YAKIMA, WA - A basketball tradition continues Thursday in Yakima.

The Yakima Sundome is hosting the state high school basketball tournaments for the 16th straight year. The tournament always brings a big crowd and a big economic boost. The Yakima Sports Commission expects up to 6,000 people to come to the tournament, adding close to $3 million in revenue to the area.

"Economically it's all important," Gene Rostvold, Tournament Director, said. "People from all corners of the state come to the Yakima Valley, have a good time, and they'll want to come back next year."

The 1A and 2A championships will be decided on Saturday.
