YAKIMA, WA - Some local military members in Yakima took the day off to play in the snow on Friday.

All day, eight members of the military from the Yakima Training Center enjoyed a day in the snow with several members of the Washington State Snowmobile Association.

This is the sixth year for the Military Appreciation Snowmobile Ride, and Matt Mead from the association said every year it is like watching kids in a candy store.

"You know, usually we ask them at lunchtime if they want to ride some more, they do.  Around 3:00 we tell them it's time to start heading back to the truck, they really are disappointed, they don't want to go," Mead said.

The group left Yakima early in the morning and got to Chinook Pass where they rode around the trails all day.

All the gear and snowmobiles are donated from the association so it does not cost the military riders a thing, and it is all to support our local active duty men and women.
