SUNNYSIDE, WA - Pioneer Elementary School Principal Kris Diddens was recently named a Washington State Regional Distinguished Principal by the Association of Washington School Principals (AWSP).

She is one of only 18 elementary principals in the state to earn the prestigious recognition this year.

"Candidates for the award were selected by their peers from across the state based on their contributions to professional growth and development, educational excellence, community relations, and humanitarian activities," said Karen Owen, AWSP President. "You can be proud to have a principal from your district recognized for this honor, it is a reflection of your district's commitment to excellence for young people."

Diddens credits her staff for the excellent work occurring in her school. "This honor is a reflection of their hard work and commitment to our students," said Diddens. "Pioneer Elementary is fortunate to have educators and support staff who constantly go the extra mile for our students."

Diddens has been the principal of Pioneer Elementary School since 2004.
