Yakima Valley Museum Unveils New Local Military Exhibit

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, WA-- The Yakima Valley Museum is giving you a look into the valleys past with a new military exhibit.

Saturday, the museum opened their new permanent exhibit called Yakima Valley and the U.S. Military.

It shows uniforms, medals, awards and weaponry used and earned in major conflicts by soldiers from Yakima dating all the way back to the Civil War.

John Baule is the museum's director; he said most people don't realize what a big part Yakima has in our country's history.

"We sometimes think that's kind of something that happens somewhere else, that people get sent off, but actually the valley itself has made these contributions," Baule said.

He also said the museum will rotate out artifacts over time in the new exhibit to keep it fresh and new.

The Yakima Valley Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
