NBCRightNow.com - 20 days on a bike. That is what one local man is about to tackle, but he is not just doing it for the challenge.

Daniel Cooley works at Scott's Cycle & Sports in Kennewick. He is about to ride what he says is the world's longest off pavement route in the world, all the while raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The route starts in June all the way up in Montana and goes down to New Mexico, covering 2,745 miles. One of his coworkers actually has the disorder, which is a life threatening disease that can block up your lungs and make it hard to breath.

"It does hold them back. The challenges on the route that I'll be facing in my mind are nothing compared to those suffering from cystic fibrosis in the country and worldwide," said Cooley.

Only 40% of the nearly 100 riders are expected to complete the race and Cooley plans to be one of them. He says he will be making video diaries of his trip so people can follow along.
