WSU Gets #11 Seed in Pac-12 Tournament

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – With its win over UCLA Saturday, Washington State University men's basketball (10-20, 3-15 in Pac-12) clinched the No. 11 seed in the 2014 Pac-12 Men's Basketball Tournament and will take on sixth-seeded Stanford (19-11, 10-8) in the opening round, Wednesday, March 12 at 8:36 p.m. at MGM Grand Garden Arena at Las Vegas, Nev. The game will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.

Stanford swept the season series this year with an 80-48 victory at Stanford, Jan. 15 and a 69-56 win over WSU, Feb. 15 at Beasley Coliseum. The Cougars are 59-72 all-time against the Cardinal and have lost the last three meetings between the two teams.

WSU and Stanford have met three times in the conference tournament with the Cardinal holding the 3-0 advantage. The two teams last met in the semifinals of the 2008 tournament as Stanford came away with a 75-68 victory as both teams advanced to the ‘Sweet 16' of the NCAA Tournament that season.

WSU is 5-13 all-time in the conference tournament as has lost its last four conference tournament games as its last tournament win came as the No. 7 seed in the 2009 tournament. The Cougars are 0-1 as the No. 11 seed after falling to the No. 6 Huskies in last year's tournament.

The winner of Wednesday's game will take on No. 3 seed Arizona State, Thursday, March 13 at 8:40 p.m. That game will air on Fox Sports 1.
