KENNEWICK, WA - A man is without his $6,000 wheelchair today after it was given away by a gas station employee last week.

This all started last Thursday at the Max Mart gas station at 4th Ave. and Olympia St. in Kennewick.

Police said a man had a medical emergency and was taken by ambulance to Trios Medical Center, but left his wheelchair inside the store.

A store employee said Monday a co-worker on the night shift let a customer take it, he also said he has known that customer for about 10 years and said he know she is a nice lady that would not steal.

Police said the store has been uncooperative but they were able to see a surveillance video of the woman taking the wheelchair.

The employee at the store also said that as soon as he see his customer again he will ask her to return the wheelchair.

The prosecutor's office is investigating the case and said Monday they have not filed any charges.

NBC Right Now will be checking in with them later in the week and bring you any new information.
