KENNEWICK, WA - A big boost for the Support Advocacy & Resource Center in Kennewick Thursday.

Columbia Center Rotary donated $13,000 to the group that helps victims of crime and sexual assault.

The money will put a dent in the $800,000 SARC needs for the new building they're working toward.

SARC Executive Director JoDee Garretson said, "Every amount that you raise helps leverage your idea. It tells the next person that you're asking for support from, that others believed in it and thought it was a good idea. So the initial dollars and fundraising like this are the most difficult ones to get."

The new building will have room for services SARC can't provide now, like a counseling center with a clinical supervisor, a separate waiting area and an outdoor courtyard. The new waiting room will be named after Columbia Center Rotary.

All services at SARC are free. If you'd like to donate, call 509-374-5391.
