Moses Lake Man Found Hiding in Dryer after Standoff

MOSES LAKE, WA - A standoff at a Moses Lake mobile home park ended early Friday when a SWAT team entered a home and found a 23-year-old man hiding in a clothes dryer.  

The Grant County sheriff's gang unit went to the home Thursday night to arrest Sergio Herrera Jiron because he had failed to appear in court to face drug charges. 

The sheriff's office says when he refused to come out or negotiate, the Moses Lake SWAT team fired flash bangs and gas canisters into the trailer.

A Grant County sheriff's spokesman said after the gang unit found Jiron in found in the dryer, he still refused to come out, so officers shot him with rubber bullets.

Deputies arrested him for an additional charge of felony possession of a firearm.
