WSP Investigating Non-Traffic Related Fatal Accident Near Zillah

UPDATE/ZILLAH, WA - The Washington State Patrol is still trying to piece together the moments leading up to a woman's death on Interstate 82.

Troopers said about 6-miles west of Zillah on the eastbound lane, 44-year-old Stephanie Lesko of Goldendale jumped out of a pickup truck going about 50 mph.

Her daughter was driving and tried to pull over before her mother could get out.

Paramedics took Lesko to Yakima Memorial Hospital where she died.

What troopers still do not know is why Lesko jumped from the truck.

NEAR ZILLAH, WA - Washington State Patrol is investigating a non-traffic related fatal accident Monday.

Troopers say around 6:30PM Monday, 18-year-old Logan Lesko of Goldendale was driving eastbound on Interstate 82 at milepost 45, about 6 miles west of Zillah. As Logan Lesko was trying to pull over to the right shoulder, her right rear passenger, 44-year-old Stephanie Lesko of Goldendale, exited the Dodge pickup Logan was driving.

Logan Lesko was driving at about 40-50 miles per hour when Stephanie Lesko exited the pickup. Stephanie was taken to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital where she died.

They are still investigating lead up to the accident. No charges have been filed.
