YAKIMA, WA - The new A.C. Davis High School campus has received an $80,000 grant from the Washington Arts Commission to acquire art.

A local committee comprised of art faculty, administrators, students and community members will select the artists.  Selections will reflect the values, identity and goals of Davis High School and the Yakima School District.

The funding comes from a program, enacted by the legislature in 1974, which provides that half of 1% of the cost of a public building project be dedicated to the acquisition of public art.  The program in Washington is the second oldest in the nation and is one of only four to include the public schools.

Construction on Davis High School is scheduled to be done by Fall 2015.
