SPOKANE, Wash. - 2014 started off with multiple armed robberies at pharmacies across Spokane County. Police made arrests in many of those cases.

On Wednesday night, the Subway in the Shadle Park Shopping Center was robbed. Police are still looking for that man.

On Tuesday, two stores were robbed within two hours of each other in north Spokane. The first one at Yoke's Fresh Market on Indian Trail Road, and the second at a Subway on N. Nevada. Those suspects are still on the loose.

While the robberies are frustrating for businesses in our area, no business owner is probably more frustrated than Sara Chapel. Her espresso stand, Jitterz Java on Northwest Blvd., has been robbed three times in the past month alone, and Sara is fed up with it. So she is taking a stand. She's encouraging her employees to arm themselves.

A few of Chapel's employees are trained to use firearms, and Chapel is now scheduling at least one barista to carry a gun every shift.

Police told our partners at The Spokesman Review that their response times to each of the three robbery calls averaged about three and  half minutes. They would not comment on Chapel's decision to allow her employees to carry firearms, but they said they encourage anyone in a robbery situation to call the police.

So far, no one has been arrested in connection to the past three robberies.
