KHQ.COM - The Better Business Bureau is warning basketball fans to remember to make wise choices when they’re buying tickets to see their team play in the NCAA tournament. If your looking to check out games at the Spokane Veteran’s Memorial Arena, the BBB says Ticketswest.com is a safe and efficient way to buy tickets. It also lists Primesport.com as the NCAA’s official ticket exchange, where fans can buy and sell tickets that are authentic and guaranteed.

Before you purchase tickets make sure the website is secure. To do that, you need to check for two things. First, a padlock icon on the webpage. Second, an “s” behind the “http” in the URL box. If the website does not have both of those things, the website might not be secure and your information could be unsafe.

Also, take extra precautions buying tickets by using your credit card. Do not wire money. If you use a credit card and something goes wrong, you’ll be able to dispute the charge. You wont’ be able to do that if you wire money. Once it’s transferred, it’s gone.

The BBB also warns of hidden costs. The ticket sites are not required to list fees and taxes up front, which means you’ll likely pay more in the end. Finally, if you don’t know whether a company is legitimate you can always check its history at BBB.org.

The advice from the BBB might seem like common sense, but the reminders are especially important as fans work up to the last minute to try and land tickets. This is where the BBB says people sometimes act in haste and make quick decisions before thinking them all the way through.
