RICHLAND, WA - Grab your furry friends, Pet Over Population Prevention's (POPP) Pooch and Pal Run and Walk is this weekend at Columbia Point Marina in Richland.

The local non-profit provides spay and neuter services to homeless dogs and cats in the Tri-Cities and the money from the run helps support those services. There's a 1 mile, 5K and 10K race or walk; local animal services, food and information booths will also be at the event.

Nearly 500 people attended the annual walk and run last year, helping to raise more than $10,000.

"Last year alone, we did 1,199 spay and neuter assists. So, people who could not afford it on their own, we were able to help them with that," said Teri McCann with POPP

Organizers say you do not need a dog in order to participate and you can register the morning of the event.
