No Smoking at Tacoma Marijuana Convention

Posted: Updated:

TACOMA, WA - Unlike Seattle's annual Hempfest, no smoking will be allowed next August at a marijuana convention in the Tacoma Dome.

Organizer Bob Smart of Edmonds told The News Tribune people should think of it as a home-and-garden show for the new marijuana industry.

The four-day event starting Aug. 14 is called CannaCon -as in cannabis and convention.

No marijuana will be on sale, but visitors will see pipes, vaporizers and gadgets to ingest smoke. Smart says the trade show will also feature equipment for growing and processing marijuana and making products from hemp.

There will be seminars for people in the recreational drug industry to learn the best practices and exhibits with professionals involved in marijuana-related health care, law and tourism.
