PASCO, WA - Students at New Horizons High school in Pasco learned what it's like to drive under the influence Friday morning.

Using a DUI simulator from the Moses Lake Police Department, students took turns driving on a course in the school parking lot.   The simulator mimics driving under the influence by adjusting the reaction time in the steering wheel by about half a second.

"We don't want it to get to the point to where it takes a close friend or relative or even themselves to experience either a serious car crash or death before they realize that drugs and alcohol in vehicles is a serious deal," says Officer Kyle McCain.

If arrested for DUI in Washington state, not only do you face jail time but also stiff penalties from the department of licensing including suspension or even loss of your license.
