PROSSER, WA - A long-awaited visitor center celebrating Washington's wine industry has opened quietly in Prosser.

The Walter Clore Wine and Culinary Center building is still awaiting some finishing touches and there are still no road signs leading to the center.

Still, the center has already hosted events over the last few months.

Construction of the $4 million facility was paid for by a $2 million federal grant, a  $1.4 million state grant and fundraising by the board. A nonprofit organization is operating the Wine and Culinary Center.
