It's that time of year again, the Mid-Columbia Senior Softball Association is gearing up for its upcoming season.
KENNEWICK, WA - It's that time of year again, the Mid-Columbia Senior Softball Association is gearing up for its upcoming season.
The league, which is for men and women 50 years and older, meets twice a week for games at Lawrence Scott Park in Kennewick. The season starts April 21st.
Organizers say they stress safety, fun and equal participation. In a push to bring more women to the league, ladies 45 or older can also participate this year, if they have a partner who is 50 or older playing.
"Out here, everybody is equal and guys allow the women to play their base...they bat," said Connie Wormington, the secretary and member of the league. "They don't sit there and say, 'you better not just stand up there and not take a hit.' They encourage us--they're all for us."
If you're interested in playing senior softball, there's an informational meeting Thursday, March 27th at the Mid-Columbia Library, located at 1620 South Union Street in Kennewick. The meeting runs from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
