FRANKLIN COUNTY, WA - Washington State Patrol is investigating a two vehicle collision that sent one person to the hospital. The accident happened just before 6PM Thursday, about 15 miles north of Pasco.

Troopers say 31-year-old Jose Mayoral of Pasco was driving eastbound on Eltopia West Road at Highway 395 in a 1999 Chevrolet C150 Pickup truck with a trailer.

Mayoral tried to cross Highway 395 and failed to yield to an oncoming 2001 Honda Civic that was heading southbound on Highway 395 at Eltopia West Road, and the two vehicles collided.

The driver of the Civic, 32-year-old Anthony Lewis of Richland, was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland via Medstar. No word yet on his condition.

Mayoral was not injured.

The Civic was totaled in the accident. Troopers sat Lewis was not wearing a seat belt.

Troopers say drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the accident. Charges are pending in the accident.
