Uninsured Get Last Minute Help Before Health Care Enrollment Ends Monday

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, WA-- Monday March 31st at midnight is the deadline to enroll for health care under the Affordable Care Act and assistance agencies are staying open extra hours to help people sign up.

Community Action Connection in Pasco was open Saturday to assist people pick out a plan, register or deal with a system error.

Administrators say four employees helped around 50 people.

"People who come in here and they're just so grateful they cry that they've been able to receive help first of all, but most importantly receive health insurance in some form," said Wes Luckey, Community Action Connection.

Early glitches with the Healthplanfinder website made it difficult for people to sign up, but that's turned around now.

Luckey says the failure rate to register last fall was about 90%. Now it's less than 1%.

Community Action Connection will stay open later on Monday until 7pm for those last minute appointments.
