Missoula One of Best Cities for Low Tax Rates

Posted: Updated:

A national study shows Missoula is one of the best cities to live in for people who hate paying taxes.

Experts ranked U.S. cites based on their annual "effective tax rate," meaning, how much money a person put toward taxes overall, including income, sales and property taxes.

The study, done by creditcardinsider.com, shows Missoula has a very low effective tax rate, ranging from 4.7-6.4%.

Missoula also has low tax rates at all income levels and low taxes on wage earners.

"If you're getting taxed less, you're going to have more money to push out your product and more money to perhaps market your product, so it allows for businesses to thrive a little bit better," said Erin Ballard of creditcardinsider.com.

Missoula came in second in the rankings, behind Wilmington, Delaware.
