Oregon Rules Put Pot Shops Under Added Scrutiny

Posted: Updated:

SALEM, OR - Users of medical marijuana in Oregon are undergoing added scrutiny if they purchase the drug from one of the newly licensed dispensaries.

The state began sending out dispensary licenses on March 21. So far, 32 dispensaries have been cleared by the state to sell medical pot out of more than 300 that applied.

The dispensaries have to follow new rules.

For example, customers have to provide matching photo ID before being buzzed through a locked door to an inner sanctum where the marijuana is kept. Security cameras record each transaction. And customer purchases are entered into store computers, accounting for every gram entering and leaving the facility.
