BURNABY, Canada -- Central Washington University sophomore Andrea Hamada (Walla Walla, WA, Walla Walla) hit a game-winning two run single in the top of the seventh inning to lead the Wildcats to a come from behind 5-4 victory in game two to help CWU sweep its two game series at Simon Fraser University Friday evening in Burnaby, Canada. The Wildcats won the opener 3-0 behind a strong pitching performance from senior Maria Gau (Woodinville, WA, Woodinville).

The Wildcats (21-14, 10-6 GNAC) trailed 4-3 heading into the final inning of the night cap and with the bases loaded Hamada lined a single into right field that scored Michaela Hazlett and Taylor Ferleman and gave the Wildcats a 5-4 advantage.

Simon Fraser (4-27, 2-13 GNAC) held a 1-0 through three innings before the Wildcat bats came alive in the fourth where they scored three runs on four hits to take a 3-1 lead. The inning was capped by a two-run double by Sammy Morris (Bothell, WA, Bothell) that scored Alexa Olague (Tacoma, WA, Woodrow Wilson)e and Jill McDaniels (Walla Walla, WA, Walla Walla). Morris and McDaniels were both 3-for-4 in the contest as the Wildcats outhit SFU 11-5.

The Clan responded by adding a run in the bottom half of the fourth inning and two more in the sixth to regain the lead. But after Hamada's heroics in the seventh inning, starting pitcher Kiana Wood (Aloha, OR, Aloha) closed the door on SFU to secure the victory. Wood improved to 8-2 on the season striking out five batters in her seven innings of work.

In the opener, Central Washington scored two runs in the top of the first inning on a RBI groundout by Kailyn Campbell (Duvall, WA, Cedarcrest), followed by an RBI single by Maikala Galusha (Battle Ground, WA, Battle Ground) that plated Hazlett.

That is all the run support Gau needed as she tossed a complete game two-hitter, striking out five batters to improve to 11-6 on the season.

Central Washington added an insurance run in the sixth inning on a run scoring single by Rachel O'Neill (Kirkland, WA, Juanita) scoring pinch runner Adrianne DeLay (White Salmon, WA, Columbia).

Central Washington will host its final home stand this weekend when they play a pair of doubleheaders against Western Oregon this Saturday and Saint Martin's on Sunday starting at 1 p.m.
