KENNEWICK, WA - The Tri-City Americans have announced 20-year-old defenseman Justin Hamonic will be the team's captain for the upcoming 2014-15 season.

Hamonic just finished his third full WHL season,  his career-best recording new highs in assists (14) and points (15).  In 183 career games, all with the Americans, the Winnipeg, Manitoba-native has registered 2 goals, 27 points, 104 penalty minutes and plus-7 rating.

Hamonic becomes the second consecutive defenseman to be named captain of the Americans and just the fourth over the last 15 seasons, joining T.J. Fast (2007-08), Jarrett Toll (2009-10) and Mitch Topping (2013-14).

This past season, Hamonic also served two months as the Americans' interim team captain, while Topping was out with an injury.
