SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -

A portion of Ponderosa Road is now lined with white barriers as a result of the car accident that killed two University High School students in October of 2013.

Neighbors say the street is known to students because of a bump at the top of the hill that many drivers use to catch air while speeding down the street. The bump is now referred to as the "Ponderosa Jump" and it is an area that was a problem even before the accident.

Many say the barriers put up in December have helped stop speeding, but more still needs to be done.

"I think they should do something more," said Jennifer Guoli who knows people in the neighborhood. "Barriers are nice and slow things down, but why did they have to wait until someone was killed to do something."

Neighbors say they had called police multiple times before the accident to report drivers using the jump.

Now that it is nearing road construction season, the county plans to survey the spot and come up with a more permanent solution. A survey team will decide whether or not to grind the pavement down to eliminate the jump this Spring or Summer.
