Local Little Leagues Open With New Northwest Harvest Partnership

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, WA. -- It's spring and that, of course, means baseball.

Saturday the West Valley Little League kicked off their opening day and started their Strike Out Hunger campaign with Northwest Harvest. All season long, West Valley teams will be collecting donations and canned food for the local food bank.

Northwest Harvest says this new partnership is a win-win for both the organizations and the kids.

"It's a good message for them to know they're paying it back," Sheri Bissell of Northwest Harvest said. "Paying it forward. They're healthy, their bellies are full. They are helping kids that may not be as lucky as them."

Yakima National Little League is also joining West Valley Little League in partnering with Northwest Harvest this season.
