Bridger Bowl Closes For The Season

Posted: Updated:

Ski season officially comes to an end for skiers at Bridger Bowl on Monday.

Russel Ashby moved to Bozeman last year form Australia. This year was his first full season, skiing at Bridger Bowl.

"I really like the town, the vibe and everybody was super friendly," said Ashby. "Bridger has also turned on some good snow for us,"

Ashby decided to dress up in a fishing hat for the day of skiing. He said dressing up is all part of showing his passion for his new hometown.

"We were up yesterday and I felt undressed," said Ashby. "There were a lot of people in tutus and a guy in banana suit so this was the best I could do on short notice."

Bridger Bowl Officials say the ski resort had a record ski season. They say they are ahead about 8,000 visits since their last record season which was the 2010-2011 season.

"We have a record of about 216,000 skier visits this year. We have been delighted. We had great ski conditions," said Emily Lind, Bridger Bowl Marketing Department.

Lind said as soon as the snow melts, the ski area will be building the Alpine Cabin.
The cabin will be located on the north side of the mountain near the two new triple chairs.

"We're looking at having some limited food service, a warming area and facilities," said Lind.

The new cabin is expected to cost about $400,000. The new cabin is expected to be open by the start of next ski season, which is scheduled for December 5.
