Freeman High School students walked out and held a moment of silence for the 12 students and one teacher killed in the Columbine shooting. Freeman student Sam Strahan was killed at the beginning of the school year during a school shooting.

OCALA, Fla. - Authorities say one student shot another in the ankle at a Florida high school and a suspect is in custody. The Ocala Star-Banner reports the shooting happened Friday morning at Forest High School which was on lockdown. The injured student was taken to a local hospital.

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - A 17-time convicted felon tried to hide out in a laundromat to avoid arrest on Wednesday. It didn't work. The Sheriff's Office says a Spokane Valley deputy noticed a car with a damaged windshield pull into a gas station near Sprague and Mullan late Wednesday night. The driver, later identified as 34-year-old Ryan L. Cheers, left the car running and walked into the gas station.

SEATTLE, Wash. - The King County Board of Health has voted to ban the use of smokeless tobacco at all professional sporting events in the county, which includes Seattle. The Seattle Times reports the board voted unanimously on the measure Thursday. It will go into effect May 19. The move comes in response to health advocates who say the habit among players sets a poor example for fans and young athletes.
