RICHLAND, WA - A victory Tuesday for some North Richland neighbors who opposed a proposal to build a stormwater filtration project next to their homes.

In a very close 4 to 3 vote, the Richland City Council voted against the project in its current form.

More than a dozen people who live in the neighborhood along saint street shared their objections with the council Tuesday evening.

The project would have created a stormwater filtration pond in a grassy area close to Leslie Groves Park.

It's an area where many children in the neighborhood play on a regular basis.
