Transportation Department Cleans Up Gravel Spill Along Hwy 240

KENNEWICK, WA - Washington State Troopers are investigating after a gravel spill in the eastbound lanes of Highway 240.

Troopers say they first got calls about the spill around 8 a.m. on Wednesday. The spill stretched about a half-mile in the area of the Columbia Center overpass. Department of Transportation crews had the spill cleaned up around 10 a.m.

Troopers don't know who is responsible for the spill but whoever is could be ticketed for loss of load. Troopers also say that person will also be responsible for any possible damages.
