MONTANA TECH NARROWS ATHLETIC DIRECTOR FINALISTS TO THREE
BUTTE, MT - Montana Tech has selected three finalists for its athletic director position. The finalists are: Rick Goeb, Dave Lau, and Jason Herbers.
The eight-member search committee was busy for the past month reviewing the robust pool of 109 applicants. "I believe the size of the applicant pool is indicative of the reputation of Montana Tech-people want to work at Tech and be a part of the good things that are happening on campus," noted Doug Abbott, Montana Tech Provost and head of the search committee. "The committee phone interviewed seven candidates and conducted reference calls. From this, we selected three finalists for on-campus interviews." Each candidate will have a full day of interviews with faculty, staff, and students. Also included in their on-campus interview is a forum for the campus and community to meet the candidates and ask questions.
Rick Goeb currently the president of Rgoeb Sportswide Consulting in Bemidji, MN. Prior to consulting, Goeb worked as the director of athletics, from 2001-2013, at NCAA D II Bemidji State. He was the senior associate/assistant athletic director at the University of Alaska Fairbanks from 1995 to 2001. He also served as an athletic assistant at NCAA Div. I University of North Dakota from 1993 to 1995. He received his educational administration doctorate in 1997 from the University of North Dakota and also holds an M.A. in Sports Management and a B.S. in Physical Education & Coaching. David Lau has served as the assistant director of athletics for development at NCAA D II Missouri Western State University (MWSU) since 2003. Prior to moving into administration, he served as an assistant baseball coach and administrator at MWSU. He holds a B.S. in Education from Missouri Western State University and an M.S. in Education from Northwest Missouri State University. Jason Herbers has served as the associate athletic director for development and operations at Dixie State College in St. George, Utah since 2010. Prior to joining the Dixie State, he served for five years as the assistant athletic director for marketing & promotions at Utah State University. He also served as the director of marketing, promotions and ticket operations at Eastern Washington University for just over four years prior to Utah State. Herbers also spent three seasons at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as the promotions coordinator. He earned his M.S. in Physical Education from Eastern Washington University in 2010 and his B.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Wisconsin in 1997.
