Washington Asparagus Season Off to Good Start

NBCRightNow.com - Asparagus growers in Washington say the season is off to a good start.

 The executive director of the state Asparagus Commission, Alan Schreiber, says spring weather in the mid-Columbia area has been ideal with no frost.
The harvest started early this month and should last into June. There are 75 asparagus growers in Washington who harvest about 18 million pounds a years from about 5,000 acres.
