UM Easter Egg Hunt Goes Green

MISSOULA -

With thousands of plastic eggs set to speckle the lawn at the University of Montana this weekend, a Missoula business is keeping the event green.

Missoula Federal Credit Union is making recycling stations an annual tradition at UM's Easter Eggstravaganza. The stations will be set up around the campus, so parents can drop off their children's plastic eggs once the fun is over.

Signs around the lawns where the eater egg hunt is being held will alert parents to the recycling program.

"The recycling program is just to make sure these plastic eggs don't end up in a landfill somewhere, some kids are attached to them, and they'll take them home and reuse them, some of them don't, and we want them to recycle," said Sheila Callahan with Mountain Broadcasting.

Missoula Credit Union funded the recycling program last year and saved about 15,000 Easter eggs to use this year. The Easter Eggstravaganza, presented by Mountain Broadcasting, kicks off at Saturday at 1 p.m. It's free and open to the public.
