KENNEWICK, WA - This weekend was a great one to be outside at the horse races.
Sun Downs returned to the Benton County Fairgrounds the past few days. Races were held throughout most of the day and participants could place bets on their favorite picks to win. The people who run the event told NBC Right Now they are a non-profit and they enjoy bringing back the races every year.
"Well just look at the people. It's just another community function that we try to provide for racing fans for 100 miles around," said Malon Cowgill from Tri-City Horse Racing.
The races range from different categories depending upon the length the horses have to run. On May 5th the group will also host a Kentucky Derby event. They plan to televise the race and accept wagers.
