Walla Walla Man Dies after Setting Shed on Fire

Posted: Updated:
WALLA WALLA, WA - Walla Walla Firefighters are investigating a fire that killed one man over the weekend.

Firefighters say it appears 52-year-old Gary Cable intentionally set fire to a small outbuilding on Sunday, while he was inside.

Police arrived on the scene first where they saw smoke coming from the building behind a house. The house on the 800 block of North 9th Avenue belongs to Flossie Cable.

It only took a few minutes for firefighters to put out the flames, but their efforts were hampered because of flammable liquids inside the building.

After crews extinguished the flames, firefighters recovered the man's body.

The fire caused about $5,000 in damages to the out building, but didn't damage the home.
