SPOKANE, Wash. - Two Spokane County Jail inmates face first-degree escape charges after deputies found evidence they were plotting an escape.

Deputies say the two inmates, Jeremiah Logan and Jason Cooper, used a tool fashioned out of toenail clippers, a strip of cloth and a towel rack was found in the inmate's cell apparently used for making a hole. Court documents said corrections staff found a hole between 4 inches and 8 inches in length and 2 to 4 inches in height in the cell camouflaged by toilet paper, toothpaste and cardboard.

Logan is in jail for child rape charges, and Cooper is in jail for possession of meth. Both were in court on Monday to face the new charges of escape.
