SAN BRUNO, Calif. –
Gonzaga University senior Payden Cawley Lamb was named West Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week, announced the league office Monday.

The Buckley, Wash., native notched a hit in each of the four games for the Bulldogs last week, which extended his current hitting streak to eight games. In those games, Lamb went 10-for-16 (.625 batting average) with three runs scored, three RBI, two doubles and a walk. The right fielder elevated his batting average to .372 on the year, which is a team-best. In game one against the University of Portland, Lamb recorded his second four-hit effort of the year while driving in three runs.

Lamb was also impressive defensively, highlighted by his stunning throw out at third base from right field in game two against the Pilots.

This is the second WCC weekly honor for a Zag player this year. Sophomore Andrew Sopko was named Pitcher of the Week the opening week of the season.

Next for the Bulldogs is a midweek game in Pullman against Washington State University. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday.
