Pacific Recycling Suffers Fire on Earth Day

Posted: Updated:
The Pacific Recycling Center sustained damage after a fire broke out Tuesday evening.

The Missoula Fire Department responded to the structure fire at 7:14 p.m. on Tuesday. Fire crews forced entry onto the property and found a forklift fully engulfed in fire. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire before the propane tank, located on the back of the forklift, exploded.

The structure sustained heavy smoke damage and some heat damage. Pacific Recycling was able to mitigate the damage so they could remain open for business.

There were no injuries reported and initial damages are estimated to be over $50,000. The fire is under investigation at this time.
