SWX Poll: Who is the Best Local Kicker?

Posted:
With a flurry of spring football games happening this weekend, and Taylor Rowan of the Spokane Shock coming in for Shock Talk, we here at SWX wanted to find out who is the best local kicker. Please vote for your favorite in the poll above and let us know!

Don't forget to tune in to SWX on Friday, April 25, for Idaho's Silver and Gold game at 7:30 p.m. PST, and on Saturday for the Eastern Washington's Red and White game live from Roos Field on Saturday, April 26, at 2:00 p.m. PST. Unfortunately, neither of these games will be available via an online livestream, but both will be available for viewing on the "Watch SWX" app for iOS and Android devices as long as you are in SWX's viewing area. We will also bring you highlights and post game coverage of Washington State's Crimson and Gray game, also on Saturday, airing on Pac-12 Network at 1:00 p.m. PST.

Here are some facts about the four contestants.

Taylor Rowan (Spokane Shock): Two-time All-American while at Western Illinois. Broke the FCS record for most consecutive made point-after attempts while he was with the Leathernecks. As an Arena Football League rookie in 2010, Rowan led the league with 121 point-after attempts made, and also made all 5 field goals he attempted. In 2011, Rowan was 119-for-138 in PAT attempts and went 6-of-9 in FG attempts. Rowan returned to the Shock in 2013 and was 81-of-95 in PAT attempts in 10 games. This season Rowan has continued his accuracy and has already nailed 38 PAT attempts and a field goal for the Shock. Keep in mind... the goal posts in the AFL are only nine feet apart, half the size of the goal posts in the NFL, which are 18-feet and 6-inches apart.

Kevin Miller (Eastern Washington): Miller finished his career strong with the Eags, making 74-79 point after attempts and going 6-of-8 on field goal attempts in his senior season. Miller finished his EWU career going 9-of-12 in FG attempts. Miller was also the kickoff man for the Eagles during his four years in Cheney. He finished with 317 total kickoffs for 19, 774 yards (62.4-yard average) and 99 touchbacks.

Andrew Furney (Washington State):

Furney was a two-time All-Pac-12 selection in his four years with WSU and was a Lou Groza Award (FBS Best Kicker) semifinalist. Known best for making a 60-yard field goal as a junior against Eastern Washington, which is the second-longest make in Pac-12 and Washington State history. Was 47-for-61 in FG attempts in his career, the third-most makes and second-highest field goal percentage (.770) in Cougar history. Furney finished 130-of-134 in PAT attempts, third-most in school history, and started 40 of the 45 games he played in while with the Cougs.

Austin Rehkow (Idaho): Named an All-American after his freshman season kicking and punting for the Vandals. Was 26-of-27 on point after attempts and 10-of-17 for field goals with a long of 41 yards. Rehkow also set an NCAA record as a punter, averaging 47.8 yards per punt. In high school at Central Valley (Spokane Valley, Wash.) Rehkow broke what was an 83-year old Washington State record at the time when he made a 67-yard FG, 1 yard shy of the national record of 68 yards. Also played basketball for Idaho this past season.
