UPDATE: Suspect In Homicide Of Missing Woman Found In Trunk Appears In Court

UPDATE:
SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. - The Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed the cause and manner of death of the woman who was found dead in the trunk of a car last Friday, April, 25.

Latanya Clara Chapin, 51, has been identified as the woman in the trunk and her death has been ruled a homicide as she suffered from blunt and sharp head and neck injuries as well as compressions to her neck. Chapin was originally reported missing in March.

The man accused of killing Chapin is Juan Sifuentez. He made his first court appearance Monday afternoon. Sifuentez is being charged with 2nd Degree Murder and held on a $750,000 bond.

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. - The body of a missing woman was found early Friday morning and now two people have been arrested in connection to the case. 

The Spokane County Sheriff's Office says the woman was reported missing back on March 7th, 2014. After her body was discovered in the trunk of a car in the Perry District early Friday, detectives developed information that the woman's daughter, 29-year-old Racheal Colby and her boyfriend, 32-year-old Juan Sifuentez, were the primary suspects. Sifuentez was booked into the Spokane County Jail for 2nd Degree Murder. Colby was arrested for Rendering Criminal Assistance and Trafficking Stolen Property. 

Friday afternoon, detectives with the Sheriff's Office were searching a storage unit in Spokane Valley near Argonne and Montgomery in connection to the case. At this point, it is unknown what they found. 

In addition to the storage unit, detectives were looking into a house across the street where they believe the crime occurred.

    SPOKANE, Wash. - Fire crews were called to a fire at an apartment complex in the 2500 block of E. Euclid Ave. Sunday afternoon. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire, but two apartments did sustain damage. No one was home at the time and no injuries were reported.
