Oregon Dropping Health Exchange Program, Will Join National Healthcare.gov

(OREGON)- Oregon has announced plans to join national healthcare.gov. The state is scrapping the failed healthcare exchange, "Cover Oregon", after spending hundreds of millions on the plan. Nearly three-hundred million in tax payer dollars have gone to "Cover Oregon".

Six months after it's creation, users still didn't have an online enrollment option making oregon the only state to fail in online registration.

"Cover Oregon" Executive Director Clyde Hamstreet says, "I'm sure there's a lot of disappointment. There was a lot of disappointment with some of the staff."

So the question now is come November, will people have to re-enroll through the federal system?  Hamstreet says "we are working on that, but, clearly, there's going to have to be some transfer of data from our system to the federal system."

Dan Neisl of Agape Insurance says, "what it means for them is that they are going to have to re-select the plan. Um, they're going to have to re-enroll through something new that they never experienced before."

The loss of the healthcare will also mean the loss of jobs as hundreds of employees will soon find themselves out of work.

U.S. senators are pushing for a federal probe on the issue to see if "Cover Oregon" wasted tax payer dollars.

    A 7-year old boy from Hayden, Idaho is fighting for his life after a gun shot wound to the head.The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office says that two young boys were playing with a hand gun, when the gun discharged and hit one of the boys in the head.The injured seven-year-old originally went to Kootenai Health, and then medics transferred him to Sacred Heart.
