RICHLAND, WA - This week's "Just Ask Shane" question has to do with some new construction underway in south Richland.  Emily wants to know, "What's going on behind the Gesa building on Gage Boulevard?  What are they building on that big lot that runs along Steptoe Street?"

We talked with Richland's community development office and they tell us this project is actually phase two of the Bella Vista apartment complex.  Bella Vista originally opened in 2005, and they've owned this piece of property from the beginning.  Phase two will add 106 new apartments to the complex and will boost Richland's apartment supply to a comfortable level.

"It will help reduce the high demand we've had for apartments over the last few years.  We've had several new projects, so there are more options for people looking for places to live, said Rick Simon, Richland's Development Services manager.

Robin Jones, the property manager at Bella Vista apartments added, "Right now is a good time.  We're very strong here, and we have a good reputation with the community and we want to share that with more people."

These new apartments will be one and two-bedroom units, with some new floorplan changes and other upgrades. Construction started in January and they plan to open the new units later this summer.
