Savannah River National Laboratory falls under the Department of Energy umbrella. The lab located in Aiken, South Carolina was originally created specifically for nuclear deterrent. That includes finding new alternatives to the use of nuclear technology.

Now their strong suits include researching waste cleanup initiatives and finding new ways to carry out environmental management of the Department of Energy's programs throughout the nation.

"Our job as a national lab is to be an honest broker if you will of scientific and technical information that serves the overall program," explained Will Callicott, a spokesperson for SRNL.

Callicott went on to tell us that the review would be detailed. He says expect a few months to pass before any new information is released to the public.
