New Report Shows What Cities Have The Best And Worst Air Quality

Posted: Updated:
NBC RIGHT NOW-- The 15th annual State of the Air report card from The American Lung Association shows that although particle pollution is down, smog levels are much higher than last year.

Researchers also found almost one in ten Americans live in one of the 17 counties with unhealthy levels of all types of pollutants measured in the report.

Nearly half of the people in the United States, which is about 148 million people, live in counties with unhealthy levels of either ozone or particle pollution.

22 of the 25 most ozone-polluted cities in the 2014 report, including Los Angeles, New York City, and Chicago, had more high ozone days on average when compared to the 2013 report.

Despite vast improvements, the Los Angeles, California area was listed as the most ozone polluted city while Anchorage, Alaska was the city with the fewest polluted days.

Luckily our region was not on the list of the unhealthiest air quality when it comes to pollution.
