TOPPENISH, WA - A 16-year-old boy was arrested at school Wednesday morning, after Toppenish Police found a pistol in his backpack.

Officers tell NBC Right Now they got a tip around 10:00A.M. on Wednesday about a student at Toppenish High School having a firearm in his backpack at school and they went to the high school to check up on the claim.

When police got to Toppenish High School, they found the teen and an unloaded pistol in his backpack. Police say while they found the pistol in the backpack, the student hadn't made any threats to anyone.

Officers arrested the teen on two charges, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a dangerous weapon on school grounds.

No one was hurt in the ordeal. Toppenish Police have not released the teen's name, but they did tell us that he is a known gang member.
