NBCRightNow.com -- Governor Jay Inslee is in the process of looking for a new state Supreme Court justice.
Spokane judge Michael Price is on Governor Inslee's list to fill the soon to be empty seat. If Inslee chooses him, Price will become the second justice on the bench from Eastern Washington, the other being justice Debra Stephens.
This decision was reached now that current Washington State Supreme Court justiceJames Johnson is leaving due to health issues.
Price is born and raised in eastern Washington and has deep roots on the east side. He earned his undergraduate and law degree from Gonzaga University.
Presiding superior court judge Sam Cozza said Price is adaptable and he can handle any case. He also said Price is flexible and very well thought of by attorneys and fellow judges.
Spokane County Deputy Prosecutor Tony Hazel agrees and said he is a strong supporter of Price's appointment to the bench.
Governor Inslee is expected to appoint someone to the bench no later than the first week of May.
