Firefighters with Stevens County Fire District #1 responded to a barn fire at a home on Highway 291 in the southern Ford area on Thursday.

The call came in around 9:00am after some people noticed smoke coming from the barn. Fire Chief Bucy told KHQ when his crews arrived the barn was fully engulfed in flames. Crews were able to get the flames knocked down in about 15 minutes, but the barn and all of the contents, including various farming machinery and tools, were destroyed. The homeowners were not home at the time of the fire.

There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.

Chief Bucy said a warming light used for baby chicken may have been the cause.
