Butte Police Investigate Shooting

Posted: Updated:

Two shots fired on Front Street has Butte-Silver Bow County police trying to get to the bottom of exactly what happened.

Undersheriff George Skuletich says two gun shots were fired into Gilligan’s Tobacco shop Wednesday night about 20 minutes after 10 p.m.

Although the shop was closed, the clerk was still inside.

Skuletich says the first gunshot struck a display case, just ten feet from where the clerk was standing.

According to police, the gun shots came from a high powered rifle.

At this time, police are not sure if it was an intentional drive-by shooting or an act of vandalism.

There were no injuries.

Anyone with information should call the Butte-Silver Bow County police at 497-1120.
