YAKIMA, WA - A 14-year-old Yakima girl has been selected as the 2014 Washington Champion for Children's Miracle Network hospitals.

Camery Broers and her family will meet with congressional leaders in Washington D.C. to discuss critical care that's being provided to sick children at hospitals.

Camery's grandmother says she's very proud of how far the young girl's come.

"She's a miracle," said Debra Broers. "She's come a long way, and it's important for her and these children to be recognized."

Camery was born with DiGeorge syndrome, a disorder caused by a defect in a chromosome. She's gone through multiple open heart surgeries as well as speech and occupational therapy programs.
