SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - Two people were taken to the hospital after their motorcycle was struck by an SUV near the Washington/Idaho state line at Wellesley and Irrigon Friday afternoon.

Kootenai County Deputies on scene told KHQ the SUV was heading east on Wellesley and went through an intersection, struck the motorcycle and continued into a smoke shop parking lot, striking three more cars and sending one of them into the store.

Two people were riding the motorcycle, a man and a woman, and they were taken to the Kootenai Medical Center with multiple fractures. We are told they are in serious condition, but they should be ok.

No one else was injured.

The elderly driver of the SUV told deputies he had some sort of medical episode and his foot got stuck on the accelerator.

No word yet on injuries, but as soon as we get any additional information confirmed, we will update this story.

Deputies are still on scene investigating and the intersection will remain closed for an unknown amount of time.
